BRIEF
Create a brand identity, logo and business cards for a new local counselling centre.

BRAND ICON
The client wanted to utilise a castle in the logo to represent Slane Castle. Slane Castle is a historical local landmark, the castle was built in the 18th century. It made sense to include the castle because it is automatically associated with the Slane area.
COLOUR
I used a pastel green colour. Green is a dominant colour in nature and often symbolises growth.. Green evokes a feeling of abundance and is associated with refreshment and peace, rest and security. I chose a light pastel shade of green offering calming and gentle properties, which reinforces the welcoming tone of voice.

REVIEW
The client had began creating a business card. This gave me a good indication of the design direction desired by the client.

Upon reviewing the design, I noticed that a lot of the elements used did not work well together. The colour of the text is gold which is hard to read, combined with cursive writing which hinders readability further.

I like the castle icon, but it appears bold and black in the centre which is distracting. They used green leaves in the design which brought in the natural green colour and symbolises growth and renewal which works well for the brand.

Overall, I got a good insight into the client's vision for the brand.

Logo Iterations

FONTS
I chose to use a serif font for the logo, which adds to the welcoming feel and it is easy to read on printed materials eg. business cards.
COLOURS
I tested out a brighter green in the logo iterations, but I decided to use a more muted pastel green which can be seen below. I found this colour far more pleasant on the eye. I used a dark grey colour for the text, instead of black which could be over powering, as it helped create an overall balance in the design.

Photography
I shot a selection of photographs in the centre to try to capture the homely atmosphere in the centre. I captured the photos on Canon EOS R camera, and edited in Adobe Lightroom.
