PROJECT BRIEF
Multimedia System Development was a 4th year module. In groups of 3 we were required to design and develop a responsive website for our client West Cork Rapid Response (WWCR). WWCR requires their first website to encourage donations and provide emergency contact details.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The project was managed using the software Trello. In our groups we created a group project and divided the project according to key milestones and deliverables. We used Slack to communicate with our client, to send design updates and get feedback to ensure the client was happy with the progression of the project.
KEY USER RESEARCH FINDINGS
-
'What 3 words' (a location identifying system) must be explained and easily accessible to avoid user confusion.
-
The contact number should be very easy to find, with a button to call on the mobile site, for ease of use in the case of an emergency.
-
Testimonial section to share customer experiences on the site, this could encourage donations, if users see what a positive impact the WCRR has on the local community.
PROJECT AIM
-
Create an accessible website.
-
Create a responsive logo and website layout.
-
Increase public donations.
-
Prioritise emergency calls on mobile site.
-
Easily locate a patient in the case of emergency, using what3words feature
INTERACTIVE PROTOTYPING
Paper wireframing was the first stage of the UI design, before it was developed in iterations on Adobe Xd. We participated in client meetings, to present our design iterations to our client throughout the project. I created the mobile website interactive prototypes in Adobe Xd.
IMPLEMENTATION
When the client was satisfied with our wireframes, it was time to implement our design using HTML and CSS on Adobe Dreamweaver. I implemented the code for the home page and the mobile responsive design using media queries.
